# Rich Media

> Cards with images, audio, and formatted content.

## What & why

A **Rich Media** card pairs an image with a question, a concise answer, and an optional
**details** section for the deeper explanation. Use it when the learner needs to _see_
something — a flag, a painting, a landmark, a diagram. The image isn't decoration;
it's part of the question.

Fields: an **image**, a **question**, a short **answer**, optional **details**, and
**tags**. Question, answer, and details take Markdown.

## The rule

> Reach for Rich Media only when the image _is_ the question. If the card works just as
> well without the picture, it's a [Basic](https://www.deckberry.com/creators/guide/card-types/basic/) card.

## Bad → good

**Before — A decorative photo that adds nothing — this is really a Basic card.**

**After — The image carries the question; you can't ask it without the picture.**

> **A:** Paris — capital of France

## When it applies

Great for geography (flags, maps, landmarks), art and architecture, and anything with a
diagram. Keep the **answer** short and self-gradable — put the interesting context in
**details**, which the learner reads after grading, so it teaches without muddying the
pass/fail.
