# Title & description

> Your listing is a promise to the learner — treat it as deck quality.

## What & why

A deck's title and description are the first thing a learner meets and the basis for
the one decision that matters: _is this worth my time?_ They aren't decoration and
they aren't keywords — they're a promise about what the learner will be able to do
after studying. Write them for the person deciding, and the deck earns the right
learners.

## The rule

> **Title:** say who the deck is for and what they'll be able to recall — specific
> beats cute.

A title is what a learner searches their own memory for. "Spanish" tells them almost
nothing; a title with a level, a scope, and a payoff tells them exactly what they'll
walk away with.

**Don’t**

**Learn Spanish!**

Vague — no level, no scope. Could be anything, for anyone.

**Do**

**Spanish A1 — the 300 words you meet first**

Level, size, and promise, all in one line.

Say it plainly. You're not competing for a search engine; you're helping a human
recognise the deck they need.

## When it applies

> **Description:** two or three sentences (~150 characters) for a human deciding
> whether to study — who it's for and what they'll walk away with.

The description is where the learner makes the call. Keep it short and concrete: the
audience, the scope, and what they'll be able to do afterward. Skip the sales
adjectives — "comprehensive", "ultimate", "amazing" — they say nothing a learner can
act on.

**Don’t**

_The best and most complete Spanish deck ever made!_

All adjectives, no substance — nothing the learner can act on.

**Do**

_Beginner Spanish vocabulary for your first weeks. ~300 everyday words —
greetings, food, family, numbers. For total beginners._

Audience, scope, and payoff in two sentences.

Set the deck's **language** and **category** honestly too — they're how learners find
the deck inside the app. See [Language & category](https://www.deckberry.com/creators/guide/building/language-and-category/).
